Indonesian Java-type citronella is considered the superior commercial grade over Ceylon type, with higher citronellal, geraniol, and citronellol content. Java accounts for the majority of high-grade citronella production globally. Used extensively in insect repellent formulations, soaps, candles, and as a geraniol/citronellal isolate source.
Origin:Java (West Java, Central Java)
Aroma:Fresh, clean, lemony, slightly rosy-floral with a characteristic sweet-grassy body. Java-type citronella has higher citronellal and geraniol than Ceylon type, giving a more complex, rounder aromatic profile.
